Afterburner Decals has turned out some impressive decal releases
covering contemporary USAF subjects and this one is no exception.
This release covers eight F-15E Strike Eagles out of the 90th Fighter
Squadron/3rd Fighter Wing from Elmendorf AFB, Alaska.
The aircraft presented in this set are:
- F-15E, 87-0173, AK, 11th Air Force Commander's aircraft
- F-15E, 89-0506, AK, 3rd Operational Group Commander's aircraft
- F-15E, 88-0705, AK, 90th FS Commander's aircraft
- F-15E, 87-0204, AK, 90 FS/3 FW
- F-15E, 87-0201, AK, 90 FS/3 FW
- F-15E, 87-0210, AK, 90 FS/3 FW
- F-15E, 87-0169, AK, 90 FS/3 FW
- F-15E, 87-0170, AK, 90 FS/3 FW
As you can see in the decal layout, this set provides a nice array
of maintenance stencils in addition to the national markings and
distinctive unit markings. In fact, Afterburner Decals provide
sufficient stencils and markings for two complete aircraft.
According to the instructions, this set was sized for the Revell
1/48 F-15E kit as this remains the nicest Strike Eagle in 1/48
scale released to date.
