You've no-doubt seen the great P-40E released by AMtech followed
by the same kit with a new resin nose to render the early Merlin-powered
P-40F. If you've acquired a few of these kits (and it is hard
not to) then here are five additional marking options for your
Warhawk:
- P-40F, 65 FS/57 FG, Sicily, Sept 43
- P-40F, 87 FS/79 FG, Tunisia, 1943 as flown by Lt Charles Jastow
- P-40L, 99 FS, 79 FG, Italy, 1944 as flown by Lt Charles Bailey
- P-40F, 68 FS/347 FG, Guadalcanal, 1943
- P-40F, G.C. II/5, French AF, Tunisia, 1943 as flown by Cdt
Rozanoff
These decals are printed by Three Guys Replicas (TGR). The
printing is perfectly in register. The instructions providing
excellent color references as well as decal placement information.
If you haven't acquired one of these kits, fear not - AMtech
has released the P-40F resin nose and decals now as a separate
detail set. Check out our review under detail sets.
While other decals in the TGR line are available from online sources
like Squadron Mail Order, the Decals by AMtech line is a little more
difficult to locate. I did find that Hannants had this set available,
though they are listed as TGR.
