You can see from the variety of releases in their Pro Series,
the new CAM has been keeping a steady pace in producing quality
markings for scale modelers. This one is definitely another nice
release!
This release covers two distinctive aircraft, one from VFA-27
'Royal Maces' and the other from VFA-137 'Kestrels'. The aircraft
in question is:
- F/A-18A, BuNo 162860, VFA-27, NL/401, USS Kitty Hawk,
1993
- F/A-18A. BuNo 162841, VFA-137, AK/400, CAG, USS Coral Sea,
1990
The Carrier Air Wing 13 CAG aircraft has two different designs,
one visible on each side of the aircraft on the vertical stabs.
As you can see in the decal layout, this set provides sufficient
markings for one complete aircraft.
While Academy has not yet released their maginificent 1/32 F/A-18
Hornet kit as an A-model (yet), Black Box => Combat Series => Avionix
produced a backdate set to render an A-model as I recall. This
is far easier conversion than to take the early Hasegawa 1/32 Hornet
and convert it into production configuration, IF you can even find
that conversion any longer. It would definitely get a few judges'
attention to see a 1/32 A-model bug on the contest table!
This set is definitely recommended!
