You can see from the variety of releases in their Pro Series,
the new CAM has been keeping a steady pace in producing quality
markings for scale modelers. This one is definitely another nice
release!
This release provides one of the specific airframe markings
designed for the Trumpeter
1/32 F-100D Super Sabre. The sheet provides the national markings
and distinctive unit markings for one example:
- F-100D-65-NA, 56-2979, 113 TFS/IN ANG
This particular aircraft wore the commemorative nose art for
the City of Terre Haute, Indiana as well as the red/white/blue
tail cap. Do NOT apply the FE627 number on the tail section
unless you're representing this aircraft as it appeared in
AMARC (the boneyard) as these numbers were applied when the
aircraft was retired into storage.
Note the lower price. With a subject as large as the Trumpeter
1/32 Hun, CAM could have done the usual thing with multiple
subjects at a higher retail price, or let you choose the one
you want to build with a lower price. Maintenance stencils
are available on a separate release reviewed here.
One note to consider when using these markings - check your
references as many of the ANG aircraft had been modified with
the afterburner from the F-102 Delta Dagger to improve the
reliability of the afterburner of the J57's in the F-100. The
Trumpeter kit does not include the F-102 A/B nozzle and you
may need to wait for an aftermarket nozzle or use the kit nozzle
until an alternative is available (just like the full-scale
aircraft).
These markings look good and are perfect for those who want
to build a distinctive camouflaged airframe. Check your references
or use ours - www.f-100.org.
This set is definitely recommended!
