CAM Decals has changed owners, and the decal line is not only
intact, it continues to expand. This is one of the 'Pro Series'
which has been developed by the new ownership.
In this release, CAM Decals has produced markings for two very
distinctive US Navy F/A-18C Hornets from VFA-86 and VFA-146
for the Hasegawa or Monogram kits. The aircraft presented
in this decal set are:
- F/A-18C, 163459, VFA-86 Sidewinders, AB/415, USS Enterprise,
2004
- F/A-18C, 163777, VFA-146 Blue Diamonds, NG/300, CAG, USS John
C. Stennis, 2002
As you can see in the decal layout, this set doesn't waste any
space and provides all of the distinctive markings, national markings,
and many of the more visible maintenance stencils and warning markings
for the aircraft. One note - the instructions usually provide the
color and decal layouts for each subject (on the flip side of the
instructions) but in this case, CAM does not provide the top-view
color pattern for the unique three-color camouflage pattern worn
by the VFA-86 Hornet. There are photos on the internet of this
aircraft and when I Googled 'VFA-86 415' I was able to get some
shots that would help with painting.
Time to dust off those Hasegawa and Monogram 1/48 Hornet kits.
This set is definitely recommended.
