Cobra Company has released quite a few interesting detail
sets over the years, but you may not know that they've also
released a few decal sheets as well. This particular sheet
provides the 'United States Army' notations and numbers for
serial numbers, all in olive drab. This is evidently the color
used to paint over the near-black colors applied the the US
Army's 160th Special Operational Aviation Regiment (SOAR) special
helicopters.
The 160th SOAR is the only operator of the AH-6 and MH-6 Little
Birds and also operates a number of modified MH-60 and AH-60
Blackhawks and MH-47 Chinooks.
The AH-6 Little Bird is available in 1/35 from DML, the 1/35
AH-60 from MRC/Academy. The Chinook will be along in 1/35 from
Trumpeter in the future. Cobra Company offers the detail sets
to update the AH-6 or convert it to the MH-6, plus a few sets
for the Blackhawk as well. These decals help to finish off
the project as these markings applied over the near-black green
will provide the low-visibility look you're trying to achieve.
This set comes with the stenciling in 1/35, 1/48 and 1/72,
though decal sheets for individual scales are also available
from their website.
Cobra Company Decals are available directly from Cobra Company
(the manufacturer) on their website.
