The folks at Cutting Edge Modelworls continue to turn out great
aftermarket decals with some of the best instructions/color profiles
on the market. In this set, we have three distinctive A-7Ds NOT
wearing the usual Southeast Asia camouflage. The term SLUF is an
affectionate nickname for the aircraft, which is an acronym for
"Short Little Ugly 'Fella'".
The three aircraft covered in this set are:
- A-7D-6-CV, 69-6222, 162 TFS/178 TFG, OH ANG, 'Scrappy'
- A-7D-7-CV, 70-1006, 162 TFG, AZ ANG
- A-7D-12-CV, 72-0169, 162 TFS/178 TFG, OH ANG, 'Little Sweetie'
The two Ohio SLUFs are wearing the two-tone gray wrap-around scheme
while the Arizona SLUF is wearing a tan/brown wrap-around scheme.
Note that the profiles indicate that the two Ohio birds have the
Pave Penny pod installed under the intake whereas the Arizona bird
isn't Penny equipped. Check your references if you're going to
use these markings to replicate other line aircraft.
This set provides a colorful alternative to the kit markings in
Trumpeter's beautiful A-7D kit and will definitely look great on
the contest table!.
Highly recommended!
My sincere thanks to Meteor Productions for this review sample!
