The folks at Cutting Edge Modelworls continue to turn out great
aftermarket decals with some of the best instructions/color profiles
on the market. In this set, we have three distinctive A-7Ds
wearing the Southeast Asia (SEA) camouflage. The term SLUF is
an affectionate nickname for the aircraft, which is an acronym
for
"Short Little Ugly 'Fella'".
The three aircraft covered in this set are:
- A-7D-8-CV, 70-0982, 3 TFS/388 TFW, JH, Korat RTAFB, Thailand
- A-7D-11-CV, 71-0354, 353 TFS/354 TFW, MB, Korat RTAFB, Thailand
- A-7D-14-CV, 73-0996, 120 TFS/140 TFW, CO ANG, 'Speedwell'
The two Korat SLUFs are wearing the standard SEA
scheme while the Colorado SLUF is wearing a wrap-around
version of the SEA scheme. Note that the Colorado bird is equipped
with Pave Penny as most of the SLUFs were in ANG service, whereas
Pave Penny was not yet available for the SLUF during Vietnam, hence
the two Korat birds are without the Pave Penny.
This set provides a colorful alternative to the kit markings in
Trumpeter's beautiful A-7D kit and will definitely look great on
the contest table!.
Highly recommended!
My sincere thanks to Meteor Productions for this review sample!
