The folks at Cutting Edge Modelworls continue to turn out
great aftermarket decals with some of the best instructions/color
profiles on the market. In this set, we have three distinctive
F-100D Super Sabres which provide some very nice marking options
for three of my favorite aircraft.
The three aircraft covered in this set are:
- F-100D-51-NH, 55-2901, 'Coleen', 309 TFS/31 TFW, Tuy Hoa
AB, RVN, 1970 as flown by Lt Joe Vincent
- F-100D-26-NA, 55-3604, 416 TFS/27 TFW, Bien Hoa AB, RVN,
1966 as flown by LtCol Harold Comstock
- F-100D-21-NA, 55-3580, 'Mary Jane', 308 TFS/31 TFW, Tuy
Hoa AB, RVN, 1969, as flown by Maj Don Schmenk
If you've wandered the pages of our F-100
Super Sabre online
reference, you'll recognize the names Joe Vincent and Don Schmenk
as they have helped with photos and information to make the
F-100 reference section the best available online. If you have
a copy of the old Koku Fan Famous Aircraft of the World edition
for the F-100, you'll see a full-color shot of LtCol Comstock's
F-100D, though looking a little more weathered from combat
operations.
These markings are very nicely rendered and provide some nice
camouflage alternatives as well as a nice bare metal scheme
for your Trumpeter F-100D kit.
Highly recommended!
My sincere thanks to Meteor Productions for this review sample!
