First Look

Leading Edge Models has released an interesting set. This is a combination of decal sheet and resin parts for the Canadian Armed Forces' CT-142 Navigator Trainer based on the de Havilland Dash 8 transport. The aircraft in question is painted 'Gonzo' blue, refering to the Muppet character of the same color that has a strange beak and a love of chickens. Appropriate for a navigator trainer.

The decal sheel provides the markings for 'Gonzo' (serial number 142803 or 142804). The decals provide the de-icing boots for the leading edges of the wings and tail, the safety markings for the propeller tips, maintenance stenciling and national markings all for one aircraft. The set even incudes a set of replacement side window decals which correct the kit windows.

The detail set includes a new resin nose that houses the Litton APS 504 radar used to represent the radars of the CAF as well as an array of antennas and details also in resin. The instructions walk you through the conversion steps to add parts and make minor alterations to add such details as an APU exhaust.

If you have the Hobbycraft Dash 8 kit or know someone who is looking to trade one away, here is an interesting build for you! It will definitely add some unique color and shape to your scale flightline.

My sincere thanks to Leading Edge Decals for this review sample!
