MAW-Decals decals continued to turn out some outstanding subjects
and these two F/A-18Ds are no exception. This set provides the
markings for two D-model bugs:
- F/A-18D, 164959, VMFA(AW)-553 'The Hawks', ED/01, OIF
- F/A-18D, 164694, VMFA(AW)-224 'The Fighting Bengals', WK/01,
April 2004
In addition to these two sheets of markings designed for the Academy
1/32 two-seat F/A-18D kit (reviewed here),
this set also includes a photo CD FULL of reference images. There
are very high resolution shots of the aircraft featured on many
of MAW's decal sheets as well as nice close-up detail shots of
the aircraft. Remember that interesting VMFA(AW)-224 F/A-18D squadron
commander aircraft that showed up in the sandbox wearing tiger
stripes across the airframe? There were only a few shots released
by the Navy of this unique paint scheme. This photo CD has a nice
walk around of that aircraft still in its tiger stripes. Modelers
rejoice!
The decal printing is crisp and colorful and the instructions
are printed in full color.

Sample photo from the included CD-ROM
This set is definitely recommended!
