Owl Decals is a decal company from the Czech Republic that
I honestly had not heard of prior to seeing this decal set,
but if first impressions count, WOW. The decals are all nice
and in register, but what is really impressive is the eight-page
booklet that is printed in full color and on heavy slick paper.
Each page provides full-color four-view profiles of the subject
aircraft to show not only decal placement, but very clear color/camouflage
patterns with color references using RLM colors.
This set is number 12 in the 1/48 releases and focuses on
three Luftwaffe night figher aces and their aircraft. The first
two aircraft will be interesting to modelers of the new Eduard
1/48 Bf 110E as there are two aircraft in overall RLM 22 with
subdued sharkmouth artwork on the underside of their noses.
The aircraft covered in this set include:
- Bf 110E-2, WrNr 4384, 4./NJG 1, G9+HM, as flown by Oblt Wilhelm
Herget, Feb 1942
- Bf 110E-2, WrNr 4884, 7./NJG 3, D5+ER, as flown by Oblt
Wilhelm Herget, Dec 1941
- Ju 88C-6, WrNr 360219, 4./NJG 2, R4+GM, as flown by Pilot
Ofw Wihelm Beier, Aug 1942
- Ju 88C-6, WrNr 360219, 10./NJG 1, R4+FM, as flown by Pilot
Lt Wihelm Beier, Oct 1942
- Bf 110G-4/R8/B2, WrNr 740055, 5./NJG 5, C9+EN, as flown
by Oblt Wilhelm Johnen, Apr 1944
- Bf 110G-4/R3/R8, WrNr unknown, 7./NJG 6, 2Z+FR, as flown
by Oblt Wilhelm Johnen, 1945
These are very limited production decals, and yet those prices
are quite reasonable! You can get more information about Owl
Decals from their website.
Highly recommended!
My sincere thanks to Hobbyshop.cz
for this review sample! They have this set listed at $12.75
USD for buyers outside of the EU.
