I don't know about you, but I've always loved the markings
from VF-84 'Jolly Rogers' and even more the sight of a pair
of Jolly Roger Tomcats mixing it up with a pair of pseudo
A6M Zeros in the movie 'Final Countdown'. When the Navy
decommissioned VF-84, I was afraid that the legacy of the
Jolly Rogers had ended. That was when VF-103, formerly the
'Sluggers', assumed the markings and tradition of the Jolly
Rogers.
In this set, two F-14s from VF-103 are replicated as they
appeared in June 2004 (that is about as recent as production
decals will allow!). The three aircraft portrayed are:
- F-14B, 163217, AA/103, USS John F Kennedy, June 2004, 60 Years Commemorative Markings
- F-14B, 163229, AA/105, USS John F Kennedy, June 2004, low-viz scheme
- F-14B, 161435, AA/110, USS John F Kennedy, June 2004, low-viz scheme
One complete set of maintenance stencils and national markings are
provided.
The printing is perfectly in register. The instructions are printed
double-sided in color, providing excellent color scheme as well
as decal placement information.
