TwoBobs has given us another interesting subject to model
- the Lockheed F-117A Nighthawk stealth fighter. This set provides
markings for five aircraft. Four are out of the 49th Fighter
Wing at Holloman AFB, NM. The first of these four is the wing
commander's aircraft, the other three are representative aircraft
out of the 7th, 8th, and 9th Fighter Squadrons.
The subject selected out of the 7 FS/49 FW is F-117A 88-806,
callsign Vega 31 on 27 Mar 1999, when it was shot down by a
Yugoslav SA-6 battery, the only F-117 to be lost in combat.
In addition, the decal set features a bonus aircraft, 85-831
out of Edwards AFB used by Lockheed's Skunkworks and carried
that logo on its belly for a short time.
Specifically, this set covers five airframes:
- F-117A, 88-843, 49 FW Commander's aircraft
- F-117A, 88-806, 7 FS/49 FW, HO
- F-117A, 82-803, 8 FS/49 FW, HO
- F-117A, 85-820, 9 FS/49 FW, HO
- F-117A, 85-831, AFFTC, ED
The printing is perfectly in register. The instructions are
printed double-sided in color, providing excellent color scheme
as well as decal placement information.
