TwoBobs has taken on another set of colors schemes for the
F-14 Tomcat. This set features three colorful cats (hence the
name), the first of which was an F-14A aggressor aircraft assigned
to NAS Fallon to provide a Flanker-like threat to the various
air wings cycling through NSAWC for deployment work-ups.
The second and third aircraft are F-14Bs from VF-24
as they appeared heading to post-Desert Storm flight operations
in the Persian Gulf in 1990. One aircraft carried the nose
art "Thief
of Baghdad"
whilst the other was the "Camel Smoker". Oddly enough,
BuNos are not provided for either aircraft. Both aircraft had
false canopies painted on the undersides of their noses, and
rumor has it that while they were aboard the Nimitz, guards
had to be posted around the aircraft to keep the Marines from
trying to enter the wrong cockpit.
In addition to the markings used on the aircraft,
this decal set also provides the more visible maintenance and
warning stencils, slime lights, and intake walkways.
The instructions are
printed double-sided in color, providing excellent color scheme
as well as decal placement information.
According to TwoBobs, this decal set is already sold out,
but if you're wanting to model the Jolly Roger's last cruise
with this wonderful aircraft, you can contact TwoBobs via their
website and let them know that there is sufficient demand for
a reprint. No guarantees, but if enough people want the sheet,
they may give you a second chance to get one.
A word of warning, if you buy this set, you're going to want
three Tomcat kits as you won't be able to settle for just one
of these beautiful color schemes. Definitely recommended.

My sincere thanks to TwoBobs
