TwoBobs has captured another very colorful aircraft. In this case,
the VFA-102 CAG aircraft from NAS Atsugi Japan. The instructions
tell the story of VF-102 from its establishment in 1955 up to its
recent transition to the Super Hornet. What it doesn't tell you
is tradition of the US Navy squadrons at NAS Atsugi and their colorful
aircraft. This is the same location that generated the many years
of Chippy Ho! It is good to see this tradition continue.
The aircraft in question is SuperBug 165882. The Modex is 102
(in the 'old days' the CAG's aircraft was 100, 200, etc.) which
is a more recent development as squadrons that have the appropriate
number and Modex series assignment are using the Modex number corresponding
to their squadron number. VF-102 is using Modex 102 for the CAG,
and Jolly Rogers VF-103 was using Modex 103.
At any rate, this decal set captures the colorful markings of
this aircraft on two sheets. You will have to paint the dorsal
spine and vertical stabilizers Red FS33613 and there are color
matches provided in the instructions from Testors, Humbrol, and
Gunze Sangyo without any mixing.
The instructions are
printed double-sided in color, providing excellent color scheme
as well as decal placement information.

In addition to the colorful markings, this set provides the more
visible maintenance and warning stencils as well as national markings.
Definitely recommended.
