TwoBobs has continued their coverage of the Super Hornet with
this first installment of test aircraft. These two aircraft are
out of VX-31 from the Naval Air Weapons Center at China Lake, CA.
These are the guys that get to carry and drop a WIDE variety of
weapons to ensure that any potential safety issues are identified
and mitigated before adding that particular capability to the Super
Hornet's growing list of firepower. I wouldn't doubt that these
guys would recreate that famous photo of a Navy Spad (A-1) with
a toilet suspended under a weapons pylon enroute for special delivery
over North Vietnam. What are the ballistics of the Mark 1 toilet
anyway?
Anyway, the two aircraft in question are F/A-18E 165536 (Modex
200) and F/A-18F 165668 (Modex 201). Markings are provided for
both aircraft as well as a set of maintenance stencils for two
aircraft.
The instructions are
printed double-sided in color, providing excellent color scheme
as well as decal placement information.
These markings are just in time for the Hasegawa F/A-18E/F, and
they should work fine with the Italeri and the (future) Revell-Monogram
Super Hornets as well. Definitely recommended.
