Here is an interesting set of decals to replicate the current
markings used with VFA-147 'Argonauts' aboard the USS John
C Stennis. Both aircraft shown on this sheet wear current tactical
camouflage.
CAG (Commander of the Air Wing, though the acronym dates back
to World War 2 as Commander of the Air Group) has commemorative
markings on the inboard surfaces of the vertical stabs for
the 40th anniversary of VFA-147.
Note that these special markings
are printed in multiple layers/separate decals that need to
be placed one atop the other to recreate the markings.
You can see the available colors to replicate this paint scheme
here.
The two subjects of this sheet are:
- F/A-18E, 166448, VFA-147 Argonauts, NG/400, USS John C
Stennis, Dec 2007, CAG
- F/A-18E, 166439, VFA-147 Argonauts, NG/402, USS John C
Stennis, Dec 2007
According to the instructions, these markings have been sized
to fit the Revell F/A-18E kit, though they should work with
the Hasegawa and Italeri kits as well.
This set is recommended!
