Here is an interesting release from TwoBobs Decals. This set
evidently started as a commemorative item reflecting the heritage
of Tracor Flight Systems' work in converting retired fighter
aircraft into target drones, which carries on today after that
company was acquired by British Aerospace (BAE Systems). Now
these decals are available to you as part of TwoBob's catalog
and feature a pair of notional target aircraft.
This set looks into the future of aerial targets and depicts
an F-16A ADF and an F-16C Block 25 marked up as drone aircraft,
one out of Tyndall AFB and the other out of Holloman AFB.
A number of the decals on this sheet are multi-layer decals
- one must be placed atop another to render the artwork. This
is a bit of an inconvenience that you must stack decals to
create the unit shields, the drop-shadow tail codes, Air Combat
Command shield, etc. Nevertheless, these notional markings
are a glimpse into the future of target aviation as tired Vipers
will be called upon to serve their country one last time to
help test future generations of air combat armaments.
Aside from this minor glitch, this set is recommended!
