The folks at Yellowhammer Models continue to turn out great aftermarket
subjects with some of the best instructions/color profiles on
the market. This set provides some interesting subjects circa the
Pearl Harbor attack and one captured A6M2 USN evaluation aircraft.
This set is just in time for the Tamiya 1/32 A6M2 Type 21 Zero
(Zeke) kit (reviewed here).
The
aircraft covered here are:
- A6M2, AI-154, Akagi Fighter Sqn, Pearl Harbor, 7 Dec 1941
- A6M2, AII-105, Kaga Fighter Leader, Pearl Harbor, 7 Dec 1941
- A6M2, 53-102, 253 Air Group, Rabaul, Late 1943
- A6M2, DI-108, Ryujo Fighter Sqn, 4 Jun 1942
- A6M2, AI-155, Akagi Fighter Sqn, Pearl Harbor, 7 Dec 1941
- A6M2, V-103, Tinian Air Group, Dutch East Indies, Feb 1942
- A6M2, Captured Zero, USN Test Program, NAS North Island, Fall
1942
This set provides a nice range of marking options for the Tamiya
kit. National markings are not included in this set. You'll have
to scavenge the US cockades from any number of available sources,
but for the Japanese subjects, this set also includes a set of
Black Magic Masks for the hinomarus.
In addition to the nice color profiles included in this set, there
are also three pages of background text to describe the aircraft
and some of the interpretation issues that led to these markings.
Yellowhammer Models are available directly from Meteor Productions
(the manufacturer) on their website.
Definitely recommended!
My sincere thanks to Meteor Productions
for this review sample!
