The folks at Yellowhammer Models continue to turn out great aftermarket
decals with some of the best instructions/color profiles on the market.
This set provides four USN and two USMC aircraft operating between
1942-1943. Marking options are provided for all six aircraft,
though there are only enough markings to render one aircraft from
this set.
Designed for the Trumpeter
1/32 SBD-3/4 release, this set contains two sheets of decals. The
first sheet contains the national markings, distinctive unit markings,
and nose art where applicable. The second sheet provides
one complete set of maintenance stencils, propeller manufacturer's
markings, and even propeller tip warning stripes.
The six aircraft presented in this set are:
- SBD-4, BuNo 6783, 16, VMSB-233, Guadalcanal, 1943, 'Sister'
- SBD-3, BuNo 3213, 0, CAG Saratoga Air Group, Guadalcanal, Aug
1942, as flown by CDR Harry 'Don' Felt
- SBD-3, BuNo 4651, 17, VS-5, USS Yorktown, Battle of Midway,
Jun 1942, as flown by ENS Leif W. Larsen
- SBD-3, BuNo 4687, B-1, VB-6. USS Enterprise, Battle of Midway,
Jun 1942,, as flown by LT Richard H. Best
- SBD-4, BuNo 4691, 119, VMSB-144 CO, Soloman Islands, Nov 1943,
as flown by MAJ Frank E. Hollar
- SBD-3, BuNo 4623, GC, CAG, Enterprise Air Group, Battle of
Midway, Jun 1942, as flown by LCDR C. Wade McClusky
This set is beautifully printed and the white areas look to be
opaque, so you shouldn't have any color bleed-through here.
Yellowhammer Models are available directly from Meteor Productions
(the manufacturer) on their website.
Definitely recommended!
My sincere thanks to Meteor Productions
