The folks at Yellowhammer Models continue to turn out great aftermarket
decals with some of the best instructions/color profiles on the
market. This set is their third installment of the F9F-2 Panther
series just in time for the Trumpeter and Hobbycraft releases of
their F9F-2/3 and F9F-2P kits.
In this installment, we have six interesting Panther schemes:
- XF9F-2, BuNo 122475, Early Flight Test Scheme
- XF9F-2, BuNo 122475, Late Flight Test Scheme
- XF9F-2, BuNo 122475, Special Tailplane Flight Test Scheme
- XF9F-3, BuNo 122476, Early Flight Test Scheme
- XF9F-3, BuNo 122476, Late Flight Test Scheme
- F9F-2, BuNo 123412, ATU-206, F/62, NAS Pensacola, 1956
This decal set provides three variants of the XF9F-2, two variants
of the XF9F-3, and one candy stripe ATU-206 example. If you have
the Part 1 of Ginter Books' F9F Panther series, you'll see some
experimental camouflage schemes applied to these flight test birds
which these decals can help to replicate.
This set also includes a set of Black Magic masks to provide you
with an alternative method of applying the red candy stripes to
the ATU-206 aircraft should you opt not to use the supplied decals.
The decals are very nicely printed and perfectly in register.
Also note the second sheet of decals that provide a nice set
of maintenance stencils for this Panther.
