Zotz is back with another nice set of decals for the P-47D
Razorback Thunderbolt. These are 1/32 scale for the Trumpeter
Razorback kit released late last year or the anticipated Hasegawa
version. Where most
of the aftermarket decals have focused on European theater
Jugs, Zotz has pulled some colorful examples out of the Pacific
Theater of Operations (PTO).
The decal set comes on three sheets of standard decals, plus
a smaller sheet with the nose art of Rowland's aircraft. As
usual, the set also comes with a nice color-printed color profile
to help with painting and decal placement.
This decal set provides markings for two examples:
- P-47D-23, 42-27884, 460 FS/348 FG, Leyte, 1944, 'Bonnie',
as flown by Major Bill Dunham, Squadron Commander
- P-47D-2, 42-8096, 348 FG, Port Moresby, New Guinea, 1943,
as flown by Lt.Col. Dick Rowland, Group Commander
While there are maintenance stencils for one aircraft, there
are national markings and distinctive markings enough to build
both aircraft.
This
set is definitely recommended!
My sincere thanks to Zotz for
this review sample! These are also available in 1/48
and 1/72 scale.
