On 1 December 1953, the Royal Netherlands Air Force activated
313 Squadron at Volkel AB. Fifty years later, the squadron
was flying combat missions over Afghanistan as part of Operation
Enduring Freedom. When the squadron rotated home, its fiftieth
anniversary was commemorated on F16AM J-366.
Zotz Decals has captured this tiger scheme in its latest
release. This decal set contains the maintenance stencils,
national markings and aircraft identification markings - everything
you'll need to mark up your Viper.
A separate decal sheet contains
the high-color tiger scheme for the aircraft's vertical stabilizer,
and another sheet with white backgrounds to improve the color
contrast of the high-color markings. You could also simply
paint the tail white, apply the markings, and blacken out any
white showing at the edges.
The Zotz set covers all the details with photos and with
instructions. The set comes in all three scales and
contains recommendations for kits and for aftermarket resin
sets. In this case, you can use the Hasegawa F-16A kit, but
you'll need the extended tail (now available from Meteor
Productions) and the MLU details (now available from Eduard).
