Zotz Decals is back with another interesting release covering
the CH-46 Sea Knight and presenting the nicest cover artwork
I've seen on a hobby release so far. Don't get me wrong, Zotz
has always had a flair for the colorful covers, but this one
is my favorite so far. Nevermind the engineer inside of me
is asking about the combination of armor and sea water...
Three of these subjects are US Navy Sea Knights, all of which
wear standard service camouflage, but have some distinctive
artwork provided. The HC-11 aircraft wearing hot rod flames
around the nose of the aircraft is definitely interesting.
The fourth aircraft is a Marine Corps CH-46 that also bears
some distinctive artwork in combat camouflage. The aircraft
presented here are:
CH-46D, 153319, VR/65, HC-11 'Gunbearers' Det 1, USN, 'hot
rod flames'
CH-46D, 154000, SA/40, HC-3 'Pack Rats' Det 104, USN, 'Mars'
CH-46D, 154832, SA/12, HC-3 'Pack Rats' Det 106, USN, USS
White Plains, 'Hotel California'
If you weren't happy with the marking options in Academy's
magnificent 1/48 CH-46 kit, here are four very nice alternatives.
In addition, this set also provides two complete sets of airframe
stenciling, so you can do one light gray and one dark gray
color scheme (two aircraft) out of this set.
This set is definitely recommended!
