If you've been modeling for any period of time, you've probably
heard of Armor Research and their like of detail parts for
1/35 armor subjects. The company is owned by our own Ray Mehlberger
and I had to ask him why we don't see much of his stuff these
days. Like many aftermarket companies, Armor Research has been
selling direct to the modeler. A link to the website is at
the end of this review.
Ray was kind enough to send a few samples out
of his current production line-up. In this case, here is a
detail set for the M2 machine gun. Hard to believe that a 1/35
machine gun could use so much detail? Not in the hands of an
AMS-afflicted modeler!
This set includes the gun mount, ammo box cradle, ammo box, and
even the barrel removal handle. The scary part is that the
hinges are designed to operate! Now THAT is detail!
At $7.00, this set is a nice way to dress up that 50 caliber
machine gun. Since on most US and allied tanks the machine
gun sits atop the commander's hatch ring, this is usually one
of the first details that jumps out to the average observer.
Give 'em a try. You can purchase this set directly from Armor
