Cobra Company has really been busy lately! They've turned out
no less than four detail sets for Trumpeter's impressive 1/35 CH-47
Chinook kits. While chatting with them recently, they explained
their latest projects and this detail set in particular. While
the Chinook kit is nice inside and out, the ribs/formers and spars
inside the airframe are rendered as simple raised detail. According
to Cobra Company, the placement of those ribs/formers is also a
little off as well.
This detail set replaces all of the molded-in interior structural
detail with realistic ribs and spars that are complete right down
to their lightening holes. The instructions walk you through the
process of replicating the structural stations inside the airframe
so that you won't have any difficulties installing the new details.
In addition to the 16 ribs/formers and sparts, the detail set
also includes four complete troop seat assemblies, detailed upper
crew entry door complete with track detailing, first aid kits,
and emergency lighting units.
With this set alone, your Trumpeter 1/35 CH-47A or CH-47D kit
will definitely be an eye-opener!
This set is definitely recommended for the 'Hook' modeler and
is available directly from Cobra
Company (www.cobracompany.com).
My sincere thanks to Cobra
Company (www.cobracompany.com) for this review sample!
