If you haven't visited the Cobra Company website recently, you
haven't seen the interesting research (and fun) that Chris Miller
has been doing - he has restored a full-scale OV-1 Mohawk nose!
So when you look at a resin detail set for the Mohawk cockpit,
you'll see that this was a labor of love as well!
This set is designed for the 1/48 scale OV-1 Mohawk kits
released by Roden earlier in 2005. The kit is beautiful on the
outside and generally has nice detailing all around, but another
area that could be improved upon is the engine exhausts. Each one
comes in halves, but unless you spent some quality time with some
filler and filing tools, you'll be seeing seamlines on those exhaust
ducts as they extend out over the top of the wing in very plain
sight.
Cobra Company to the rescue! Here are two new seamless exhaust
ducts cast in tan resin. Check out
the Mohawk walk arounds here and
see how visible these ducts are on the real aircraft.
These exhaust ducts are direct replacements for the
kit parts and there should be no special effort required to use
this set.
This set is definitely recommended for the Mohawk modeler and
is available directly from Cobra
Company (www.cobracompany.com).
My sincere thanks to Cobra
Company (www.cobracompany.com) for this review sample!
