This new set from Cutting Edge is a complete replacement for
the cockpit in the Trumpeter 1/32 P-40B kit. The set comes
complete with new (and deeper) floor, accurately representing
the top of the wing where the real cockpit was built over. A
nice rear bulkhead frame with fuel tank is also beautfully cast.
The set also includes new sidewalls, seat frame, control column,
hydraulic lever, instrument panel (with acetate instruments),
and several gunsight options depending on the version you're
building.
What is different about the set is the pilot's seat. Cutting
Edge makes two versions of this cockpit set, one with the seatbelts
and harnesses molded onto the seat, and one without the molded-on
belts/harnesses, instead portraying these with a rubberized material
that permits posing the seatbelts and harnesses as you'd like.
This set provides the separate posable belts and harnesses while set
CED32145 provided the other
option. The choice is yours. With these, you can show the harnesses
properly stowed or flung outside of the aircraft (or something
in-between).
This is a nicely done correction for the Trumpeter kit's shallow cockpit
and will help you render a stunning early Hawk/Warhawk.
My sincere thanks to Meteor Productions
for this review sample!
