F-105F/G Corrected Fin & Rudder

I had heard that there was a discrepancy with the Trumpeter F-105 tail in both the F-105D and F-105G kits. When Cutting Edge released this correction, along with the F-105D Corrected Fin and Rudder set, I was pleased with the quality of the castings right out of the bag.

I pulled my Trumpeter Thud kit out and compared the kit and replacement fins and was initially puzzled as the shapes where nearly identical - until I noticed the rudder area. I pulled out the kit rudder and aligned the trailing edges of the kit rudder against the Cutting Edge corrected rudder. You can see in the photo above the significant difference in shape of the two, with the original kit rudder being in front in this photo. This replacement fin and rudder set will provide a significant improvement to the eye of the Thud fan and modeler alike.

The photo below shows the replacement F-105B/D and F-105F/G fins next to each other illustrating the height and slight shape differences of the latter's fin. Interestingly, the rudders in the two sets came from two different molds, properly numbered. I thought that the rudders were identical in size between the B/D and F/G models, and in fact they are interchangeable in these sets as well.

This is a nicely done correction for the Trumpeter kit and is even worth installing on your F-105, even if it is already built! My sincere thanks to Meteor Productions for this review sample!
