Cutting Edge has been producing beautiful resin detail sets for
some years now and it is amazing how quickly one can forget what's
already been produced. One such set is the Su-22M exterior super
detail set produced in 2000 (which doesn't seem that long ago until
you do the math...). This set was designed to seriously tweak up
the both the Kopro 1/48 Su-17M-3/Su-22M-3
or Su-17M-4/Su-22M-4
kits.
While the kits are really not bad straight out of the box, There
are always things you'd like to do to an aircraft that aren't always
feasible. The features of this detail set include:
- Four replacement fuselage speed brake wells and four replacement
speed boards
- Replacement positionable rudder
- Replacement outer wing sections
- Deployed leading edge slats
- Positionable trailing edge flaps on the inboard and outboard
wing sections
- Four replacement dorsal chaff/flare launchers
You can see these speed brake wells being installed in Fotios
Rouch's Su-22UM-3 conversion build here.
After seeing that Cieo
two-seat conversion, I had to get one myself, but if I'm going
to re-engineer one Kopro Fitter, I'm also going to do the single-seater
as well. With that two seat conversion for one aircraft and the
Neomega cockpit for the other, the only real options to enhance
the exterior of the airframe are some photo-etch sets and this
resin detail set.
If you want to display your speed brakes deployed with some details
inside the wells and/or want to pose your flaps deployed, this
is a must-have detail set.
I highly recommend this conversion, available directly
from Meteor Productions.
