Thanks to the recent conversions produced by Cutting Edge
for the 1/48 scale Hasegawa F-4J and F-4C/D Phantom II kits,
we now have some additional 'raw material' available for those
AMS special projects. This release replicates the early unslotted
stabilators that equipped the early USAF, USN, and USMC F-4s
as well as many of the Phantoms exported to other air forces.
The conversion sets to render the Hasegawa 1/48 F-4C/D into
the F-4N required the kit's stabilators to be changed from
unslotted to slotted types. These slotted stabilators are
now available separately should you want to backdate or enhance
your 1/48 Hasegawa or Monogram Phantom kits with the earlier
type stabilitors before receiving the surface stiffener (scab)
plates.
Like the commercial says, this conversion is so simple, even
a caveman can do it...simply swap the kit stabs with these
resin replacements. You will have to install your own mounting
pins, but that is why I still reflect a minimum of an intermediate
skill level to get the most out of this set.
Definitely recommended!
My sincere thanks to Meteor
Productions for this review sample!
