Contact-Résine has returned with another interesting set:
weighted wheels for the Tamiya F-14 Tomcat kit. These wheels
have the hub patterns used by the F-14 prototypes and the initial
production batch that went to the fleet in the early 1970s.
This wheel pattern was soon replaced by the wheels we see on
Tomcats today.
These resin wheels are weighed (flat on the bottom) to represent
the aircraft sitting on the deck. The high-pressure tires don't
bulge like those used on other aircraft types, so these accurately
portray Goodyears at rest. You can even see the Goodyear logos
on the sidewalls.
These wheels were targeted for the Tamiya 1/32 F-14 kit,
but are easily adaptable to the Revell 1/32 Tomcat as well.
If you're looking to backdate a Tomcat to one of the early prototypes
or early fleet machines, then this is one detail that will
help you make your backdate complete.
You can purchase this
set online from Design & Marketing
International.
My sincere thanks to Design & Marketing
International for this review sample!
