DMold is back with another interesting detail set.
This one tackles the ventral radiator on the ICM 1/48 MiG-3
kit (reviewed
here). The kit is not bad out of the box, especially for
the price, but it does have some room for detailing by an AMS
modeler (check out this
build).
DMold has corrected the simplistic ventral engine coolant
radiator with a drop-in replacement resin detail set that will
provide that visual enhancement for the MiG aficionado.
The detail set consists of five parts: the radiator fairing,
radiator, intake grille, exhaust duct, and exhaust door. The
door on my example had broken loose and part of the door hinge
had broken, but this is easily fixed.
The instructions show you how to position the resin parts
to create the new radiator assembly and once completed, replace
the kit's fairing and radiator with much better detail.
This conversion is available at Relish
Models.
Definitely recommended to the AMS modeler!
My sincere thanks to DMold for this review sample!
