LionRoar, short for Shanghai Lion Roar Art Model Company, is producing
an interesting line of inexpensive photo-etched detail sets for
a wide range of popular model kits. This set addresses one of Tamiya's
big hits - the T-55A main battle tank.
Keep an eye on that second fret of details and see if you can
figure out what those are for. I did and I was definitely wrong!
The set starts off conventionally enough with photo-etched screens
for the engine deck, a nice heat shield for the exhaust stack,
and even fender brackets. The set replaces the styrene splash guard
on the bow with a photo-etched shield and its mounting brackets.
Even the canvas mantlet cover gets updated with photoetched mounting
brackets.
Okay, figure out what those disks/rims are for yet? Wheel masks?
Wheel rims? Those were my thoughts, and I wasn't even close. This
set provides two external fuel drum tanks in photo-etch. Those
are the tank ends and frame rings. The set also provides an intricate
set of mounting brackets for these tanks as well as refueling caps.
Very not bad!!
I'm looking forward to taking a look at more of the detail sets
from this interesting company! This detail set is definitely recommended!
My sincere thanks to HobbyLink Japan for this review sample.
