Lone Star Models has had a number of F9F-5 Panther update
sets available for quite awhile, so when Trumpeter released
their earlier F9F-2/2P variants, Mike West started working
on a series of update sets for this kit as well.
The first set to be released is for the cockpit, a simple addition
with only four basic parts. To simplify its use in the
model, Mike has molded the instrument panel and rudder pedals
to the cockpit tub, and has molded the ejection seat to the rear
bulkhead. The parts can still be easily painted, so I
don’t see any downside by providing the parts in this configuration
and simplifying their assembly.
The set is available for $12 + $4 P&H directly from Lone
Star Models at lsmodels@pdq.net. Also
check-out Mike’s web page for a listing and photos of
all of his products at www.lonestarmodels.com. Great
Models also carry Mike’s line of products, but check
on their availability if ordering from them. They tend
to sell-out quickly.
