B-17G Cockpit Set

One of the nicer kits in Revell-Monogram's portfolio of kits is their 1/48 scale B-17G Flying Fortress. This model features nice detailing inside and out. But as nice as any kit is, there are always things that could be done better.

True Details is known for a nice range of very reasonably priced aftermarket cockpits and detail sets that are engineered to be very easy to use. Every now and again, they'll push into the super-detailed realm as they did with their beautiful cockpits for the Roden Gloster Gladiator.

In this release, True Details provides 37 finely cast resin parts that virtually replace the interior of the aircraft's cockpit. These parts provide the pilot's and copilot's stations, the rib and stringer structure on the airframe sides, nicely oxygen bottles, detailed instrument panel with rear structure detail that is visible through the kit's nose, and the requisite floor and bulkhead structures. Even the crawlway to the nose entry hatch and up into the nose is present and well-done.

The nicely illustrated instruction sheet shows the areas to be removed off of each part (i.e. pour stubs), parts assemblies, and painting instructions.

If you have one (or more) Monogram B-17G Flying Fortresses in your collection, or have been wanting an excuse to buy and build one, this detail set will provide you some very realistic detail to see through the nose and windows.
