Trakz is one of the product lines that come from the
creative minds of VLS. They've produced a wide range of resin
vehicle accessories that feature great detail and simple construction.
Here is another release of interest. Click on the photo to see
an enlarged view.
In this set, Trakz has embarked on one of the more complex
conversions I've seen from them. This set converts a standard
1/35 M3 halftrack into a 75mm Gun Motor Carriage (GMC), the
WW2 term for self-propelled artillery. Like the full-scale
conversion of the M3, this resin detail set changes only a
few basic details of the vehicle itself, the bulk of the conversion
is the gun module that literally drops into the rear cargo
compartment.
The conversion consists of over 70 parts, most of which build
up the 75mm canon and support module for the rear of the M3.
A set of photo-etched parts makes up the gun shield that enshrouds
the front of the weapon. The white resin and bright lighting
on my photo booth tend to hide the extensive detailing that
is cast into the various parts of this set.
I've rated this conversion as advanced because this kit will
be straightforward in the hands of someone experienced with
assembling small resin parts together. As you can see in the
cover photo, the assembled model is quite impressive.
You can purchase this and any of the Trakz line
from your local hobby retailer or directly from VLS'
website at www.modelmecca.com. They have some of the fastest
mail order delivery in this industry - give them a try!
My sincere thanks to VLS for
this review sample!
