Bunker and Accessories

Italeri has released this interesting kit that would suit both modeler and wargamer. This is a typical German World War 2 machine gun bunker which is concrete enclosure with wide slits to allow a machine gunner a wide field of fire from inside the hardened shelter.

The kit is molded in styrene and presented on three parts trees. The tree with the bunker itself is molded in light gray, while the two trees of accessories are molded in tan. The accessories include sandbags, tank traps, obstacles, supply boxes, and more.

The base, also molded in tan, is a vacuformed part so it is lightweight and will be easy to mount to a base, if desired. The picture on the boxart shows the base with a mixture of paint and what appears to be model railroading type grass for color and texture.

In any case, wargamers will have their hands full combating this hardened defensive position while modelers will have a nice vignette in which to insert some figures and perhaps a Kubelwagen out of their collection. Recommended!
