A year or so ago, I had the pleasure of visiting the Squadron Mail Order
facility just outside of Dallas TX. During that visit, I was surprised and
impressed with a new line of figures that would be available through Squadron
from Carter & Crowley Ltd. The quality of casting and the level of detail
among the best on the market. This release is definitely no exception.
Molded in light tan resin, this figure set is ideal for the novice figure
builder as the two figures are pre-molded together. The only assembly is
mounting the figures to the base that is also included in the 'kit'.
The figures depict a pair of Soviet POWs from WW2, one carrying his wounded
comrade upon his back. The detail molded into the figures is quite impressive,
from the pleats of the outer tunic to the gaunt faces, this set just needs a
little paint to render a masterpiece.
Conclusion
I am quite amazed how the state of the art in resin casting and figure
sculpting is moving so rapidly as a resin figure of this quality wouldn't
have been possible only a few years ago. And at the low suggested retail
price (which is even lower when purchased from Squadron), this set is
definitely a bargain! Highly recommended!
My sincere thanks to Squadron Mail Order for this review sample!
