The Kit
Trumpeter continues to turn out some interesting figure sets to
help bring their detailed armor offerings to life. While a few
other companies continue to turn out as many German figures in
1/35 scale as actually fought in World War II, Trumpeter offers
us some nice figures to render the victors of the Great Patriotic
War (WWII).
This set has four comrades in dynamic poses:
- One is running forward to the next bit of cover
- One has his machine gun at the ready
- One is pushing up with his machine gun as if to peek over an
obstacle
- One is laying near the top of the obstacle with his rifle at
the ready
In addition to the four figures, a nice array of background diorama
offerings are provided in styrene including buckets, tin cups,
canteens, water bags, and magazine (ammo) pouches.
As you can see in the photos, the kit is presented on two
parts trees, all molded in light gray styrene.
In addition to the other details included in the set, a nice set
of weapons are also included including PPsh-41 and M1891/30 rifles.
The one weapons not mentioned in the instuctions is even more fascinating
- thanks to Peter Low for the ID, the long rifle is the 14.5mm
PTRS 1941 anti-tank rifle. You can learn more about this unique
weapon here.
Conclusions
It is nice to see some figures being developed of Soviet Army
troops in more dynamic poses that can be adapted to bring a vignette
to life. Keep them coming Trumpeter!
