First Look

Master Details is a new hobby company who has released a fantastic new figure for 1/32 modern aircraft modelers. This first offering is literally the "Swiss Army Knife" of pilot figures as you'll see.

USAF Jet Pilot

This first figure is representative of US Air Force and Air National Guard fighter pilots between the late 1970s through the late 1990s (before crews adopted the current lightweight helmets). This crew figure is posed seated to perch on your favorite model's ejection seat. The figure is wearing the standard kit of 'speed jeans' (G-suit), survival vest, and ejection seat harness.

Two sets of arms are included, one each grasping stick and throttle, the other set with cupped hands as if resting on the stick and throttle (though these can be worked to do just about anything, including holding the separately cast O2 mask and hose).

Four different heads are included in this set, all wearing the hard-shell 'bone dome':

  1. Mask off, visor up
  2. Mask off, visor down
  3. Mask on, visor up
  4. Mask on, visor down

This figure would look great in the Trumpeter 1/32 A-7D, Hasegawa F-16A (or either the Tamiya or Academy F-16Cs backdated to the appropriate era), Hasegawa 1/32 F-5E, Trumpeter 1/32 A-10, Tamiya 1/32 F-15C or F-15E (you'll need two figures), or even the Tamiya 1/32 F-4C/D/E (ditto on two figures).

While most modelers tend to pose their aircraft parked, the more advanced modelers are adding nice figures to their models to add a more dynamic element or story to their project. This figure will defnitely help to bring your next large aircraft to life!

This figure is available directly from the manufacturer at Master Details' website.

My sincere thanks to Master Details (http://www.masterdetails.com) for this review sample!
