Here's a nice diorama set for your quarter scale Luftwaffe diorama or vignette: this is a limited edition set from Tamiya that combines the parts tree of their Kettenkraftrad utility tractor which was also used to tow German aircraft around the airfield. This set has been bundled with reissues of several of Tamiiya's Luftwaffe subjects, and is now available here without any particular aircraft.

Bundled wit this set is a second tree containing fuel drums, a power cart (you must have external power to start aircraft with low or dead batteries), and several ground crew figures.

In addition, Tamiya has also included a third sprue, molded in desert yellow, that contains pilot and officer figures produced by ICM.

All three sprues provide a very nice set of subjects to place around your favorite Luftwaffe model (or an upcoming project) to help take a static subject and bring it to life.

Of course, no airfield vignette would be complete without the compulsory mascott, and a figure of a dog is included in this set.

In all, this set provides ten figures: three officers, one Kettenkraftrad driver, and six ground crewmen. Make that eleven if you count the dog. Add to that one Kettenkraftrad, one trailer-mounted generator, two fuel drums, and one toolbox, and you have the makings of an operational flightline diorama.

Conclusions

This is a nice limited edition release. While the Kettenkraftrad and generator kit has also been released (look here), this edition adds the nice figures from ICM to the mix.

Definitely recommended!

This kit is available at under $22 USD from HobbyLink Japan here.

My sincere thanks to HobbyLink Japan for this review sample!
