AK Interactive produces an interesting array of modeling paints and finishes in their growing product portfolio and here's their latest - Pigments. You may remember that AK Interactive has a variety of pigment colors in their catalog but here are some new colors and a new product to add more flexibility.
The new pigment colors include Asphalt Road Dirt, City Dirt, Faded Green, and Middle East Soil. These can be used to add dimension to the basic colors of a display base or to add the appropriate grime to the underside of your model. Once you have the pigments laid out on your model, you use AKI's Pigment Fixer to permanently bond the pigments to the surface of your model.
The other new item is their Acrylic Resin Texturizer which is in a 100ml bottle. You pour a little of this into a mixing cup and add the pigment(s) to create a color, say mud for example, and you can apply it as a non-smooth textured surface or globs to your display base or on the underside of your military vehicle as well as on its wheels/track and suspension. The Texturizer dries with a matte finish which will give you dried mud, simply spray that with gloss acrylic (or Future) to replicate wet mud. Either way, this new Texturizer along with the variety of pigment colors provide you with a variety of options for creating a scene with these simple effects.
My sincere thanks to AK Interactive for these review samples!
