We recently had the opportunity to look over some examples from
the Easy Model line of products distributed by MRC and seen on
quite a few hobby store shelves. In this example, we have a Soviet-era
Kilo-class attack submarine. The Kilo is a diesel-powered submarine
which may sound out-dated, but these new diesel boats are much
quieter than the nuclear submarines and can stay submerged far
longer than their World War II counterparts.
The submarine comes mounted to a clear tray and held securely
with two philips head screws. Extracting the model from the tray
took just a few seconds.
What comes in the box is the Kilo boat and a display stand identifying
the product. It was clear from the packaging that this model was
not going to get damaged in shipment unless the box itself was
crushed. Nice job! You can even see the safety wire still in place
in these images securing the submarine to its stand.
It amazes me just how nice many of these pre-fabricated display
models look in terms of detail and finish, especially for the price!
The eye appeal of this
finish is nicely executed.
This sub would not only look good on the shelf of a warship
enthusiast, but it would also be an excellent addition to the wargamer's
modern navy.
My sincere thanks to MRC for
this review sample!
