It has been over eight years since the last time we looked at the Easy Model line of pre-built/pre-finished models. This series is produced by the same company that also produced the Trumpeter and Hobby Boss brands of kits. Until recently, Easy Model produced its aircraft and armor subjects in 1/72 scale and its submarines in 1/700 scale. That has changed.

This 1/350th scale model comes in a well-protected package and is wired down on a clear tray inside that box. The model comes out by untwisting two wires and sits on an included stand. As you can see in these images, the model has some nice detailing molded into the hull and is pre-painted black over gray with sharp white stenciling.

Easy Model has two submarines in this new 1/350 scale series, this first installment in the Virginia-class and a Type 092 PLAN SSN.

If you're looking for a few desk models for work or home, these Easy Model releases have really improved over the years and provide the eye-catching details that even the company models lack. Of course if you have the time, you can always find a kit and build it, paint it, and get the decals in place, but sometimes you just want the result without the hassle. You have that option.

The shape and finish of this submarine is nicely done and would look good on the shelf of a submariner or enthusiast who is either not a modeler or a modeler who doesn't have the time to model.

My sincere thanks to MRC for this review sample!
