Modeler's Close-up #5 - OV-1D Mohawk

Here's another title aimed straight for the modeler from Dataview Publications. This title provides color coverage of the Grumman OV-1D Mohawk.

The OV-1 Mohawk was the Army's reconnaissance workhorse from the days of Vietnam to the end of the century. The OV-1D was the ultimate version that had the capability of collecting imagery or be reconfigured to carry the Side-Looking Airborne Radar (SLAR) pod.

This is a handy reference for the modeler as it comes not long after Roden's release of the 1/48 scale OV-1D kit and the nice aftermarket details available from Cobra Company. This title provides the essential view into how the aircraft should look!

I don't know if this title is also offered in black and white as some of the earlier titles, but you'll want toe color version. While the aircraft was camouflage gray overall, there are a number of subtle details that are not gray, like the red speed brake interiors, which would add some depth to your model.

The aircraft featured in this walk around is a restored Mohawk that is on the airshow circuit, but it is clear that the owner has a keen eye for detail as the aircraft is beautiful.

This Modeler's Close-Up is cover-to-cover color photography which has been color laser printed on quality paper stock. This title is definitely recommended!
