Alright all of you seaplane lovers, here is a title you've been
waiting for. This is a compilation of patents including drawings
and text descriptions for many seaplanes that you'll recognize
and some that you may not. This is a fascinating compilation of
drawings of seaplane designs that were submitted
to the US Patent Office for protection. These are used to ensure
that a potential competitor doesn't steal your design without having
legal consequences.
Many designs were obviously inspired
by Italian seaplanes of the 1930s. Many of the Curtiss
and Martin flying boats are also covered in this patent log.
Clearly the concept of seaplanes started to taper off in the 1950s
with ultimately only one patent filed in each decade of 1970,
1980, and 1990, but you won't miss the concept of the Lockheed
C-130 amphibian that was 'floated' out there for the US government.
The eras for which designs were patented
and are covered in this title include:
- 1910
- 1920
- 1930
- 1940
- 1950
- 1960
- 1970
- 1980
- 1990
This is another interesting bit of aviation history that will
add some depth to your reference library. This
title is available directly from the publisher at Dataview
Publications (www.dataviewbooks.com).
