Review

Kagero is a prolific publisher of great military historical references, especially in World War II military aviation. This latest release is out of the 'mini TOPCOLORS' series with this one being number 25 in the series. These titles contain a number of nicely detailed color profiles of selected subjects covering the epic German 'Operation Barbarossa' that would eventually account for 95% of the German casualties during the war as the Soviets absorbed and repelled Hitler's assault. What's especially nice about these series is that Kagero provides decals for each of the subjects covered in this title in all three 'standard' scales: 1/35, 1/48, and 1/72.

This title covers eighteen examples that fought on either side of Operation Barbarossa (and in a few examples, fought on both sides). These include:

  • kl.Pz.Bef.Wg. Sd.Kfz.265, 11 Panzer Div (Panzer I Ausf.B), 1941
  • 15cm sIG.33 SfI auf Panzer I Ausf.B, 10 Panzer Div, 1941
  • 15cm sIG.33 SfI auf Panzer I Ausf.B, 1 Panzer Div, 1941
  • T-34/76 Model 1941 (STZ), 4, 21 Indep Tank Bde
  • T-34/76 Model 1941 (STZ), 'Beat the Fascists'
  • KV-2, 7 Panzer Div (captured), 1941
  • Panzer II Ausf.C, I05, 8 Panzer Div, 1941
  • Panzer II Ausf.C, II12, 13 Panzer Div, 1941
  • Panzer III Ausf.G, 14, 11 Panzer Div, 1941
  • Panzer III Ausf.H, 531, 3 Panzer Div, 1941
  • Panzer III Ausf.J, 1, 11 Panzer Div, 1941
  • Panzer III Ausf.J, 632, 18 Panzer Div, 1941
  • Panzer III Ausf.J, 5/631, 10 Panzer Div, 1941
  • Panzer III Ausf.J, 7/731, 10 Panzer Div, 1941
  • Panzer III Ausf.D, 33, 11 Panzer Div, 1941
  • Panzer IV Ausf.E, 11, 11 Panzer Div, 1941
  • Sd.Kfz.250/3, 10 Panzer Div, 1941
  • Sd.Kfz.221, SS Viking Div, 1941
Reich Reich

The descriptions of each subject is provided in English and Polish and these color profiles are very nicely done. The decals are printed by Cartograf so you know the quality is there as well.

With distinctive subjects each in all three scales, the modeler can have a nicely produced reference AND decals all for about the same price the average decal sheet these days. These markings will provide some nice alternative subjects for the multitude of kits available for the various combat vehicles portrayed in this set.

My sincere thanks to Kagero for this review sample!
