This book, by Squadron, is in a 8 ½” x 11” soft-cover
format. It is 64 pages in length. Color is done by Don Greer and
David Gebhardt, with further illustrations by David Gebhardt and
Darren Glenn.
It contains 132 black and white wartime photos of various Italian
vehicles. There is even one color wartime photo, 8 color photos
of restored vehicles, 4 black and white photos that are walk-around
shots of the P-40 heavy tank and 30 color illustrations. A handful
of black and white line drawings complete the book.
The cover art shows 2 Samovente da 75/18 self-propelled guns that
are advancing during the summer of 1942, during an Axis counterattack
in Egypt’s Western Desert.

Phew…that’s a lot of Italian vehicles!! Brief combat
histories are given on most of these vehicles. The book will be
of value to modelers with the upcoming announced releases of Italeri’s
AB43 armored car and the “Sahariani” desert reconnaissance
Vehicle. Years ago, Italeri released a Samovente da 75/18 and a
M 13/40 tank. Both are still around and periodically re-released
by either Italeri or Zvezda. Several other types of Italian armor
are to be found from resin model companies too.
Highly recommended.
